The University of Bohol Allied Health Sciences Journal (UBAHSJ) is a peer-reviewed, open-access publication dedicated to providing health professionals, educators, and students a platform to disseminate research findings that advance clinical practice, health advocacy, and medical education. Published by the University of Bohol, the journal strives to present novel discoveries in nursing, physical therapy, medical technology, pharmacy, and other allied health disciplines from researchers worldwide.

As a specialized peer-reviewed journal, UBAHSJ is committed to offering a supportive environment for health researchers. We facilitate the publication of original, unpublished scholarly papers that contribute to evidence-based practice and the comprehension of global health issues. Article Processing Charges

Manuscripts submitted and accepted for publication in the University of Bohol Allied Health Sciences Journal (UBAHSJ) are published free of charge. Authors are not required to pay any article-processing charges (APCs). All publication costs—including plagiarism checks, peer-review management, and online hosting—are fully covered by the University. There will be no invoice or request for payment at any stage of the process.

Submission Policy

Manuscripts presently under review by another journal or publisher should not be presented. Authors must declare during submission that the work is original and has not been published elsewhere.

Authors are obligated to complete the Declaration Agreement, confirming the originality of their contribution and their sole responsibility in preventing plagiarism, while also addressing the hierarchy of authorship.

Furthermore, authors must acknowledge and comply with the journal's Open Access and Copyright Policy.

Plagiarism Policy

UBAHSJ evaluates submissions on the understanding that they are the original work of the author(s). Plagiarism—including the use of text, data, or clinical images without proper acknowledgement—is strictly prohibited. All claims are investigated according to COPE rules detailed at Publication Ethics.

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting to UBAHSJ are expected to:

  1. Originality: Affirm work is original and not under consideration elsewhere.
  2. Declaration Agreement: Sign the agreement confirming authorship hierarchy and originality.
  3. Open Access: Comply with the Open Access and Copyright Policy.
  4. Accuracy: Ensure all clinical data and findings are accurate; prompt correction of errors is required.
  5. Conflict of Interest: Disclose all funding sources and potential conflicts of interest.
  6. Ethical Standards: Adhere to ethical standards, particularly the Declaration of Helsinki for human research.
  7. Peer Review: Participate actively and respond promptly to reviewer feedback.
  8. Data Sharing: Encourage sharing of de-identified research data where ethical to do so.
  9. Communication: Maintain timely communication with the editorial team.
  10. Post-publication: Work collaboratively to issue corrections or retractions if inaccuracies are found post-publication.

Guide to Authors

  1. Adhere strictly to the journal's format to avoid immediate rejection.
  2. Submit in MS Word Format via the online portal. Remove self-identifying references for double-blind review.
  3. Cover page must include: Title, Author names, Affiliations, Emails, and ORCID numbers.
  4. Structure: Title, Abstract (150 words, 3-5 keywords), Introduction, Methodology (including Ethics), Results and Discussion, Conclusion, and References.
  5. Format: Single-spaced, 8.5x11-inch paper, 1-inch margins, Times New Roman size 12.
  6. Number all pages sequentially.
  7. Maintain two spaces before/after major headings.
  8. Spell out acronyms (e.g., World Health Organization (WHO)) upon first mention.
  9. Italicize scientific names of species and pathogens.
  10. Use the metric system and the International System of Units (SI).
  11. Tables/Figures: Titles on top for tables, captions below for figures. High resolution (300dpi) required.
  12. Citations: Follow the latest APA or Vancouver style (as preferred by the Board) for medical referencing.
  13. Conciseness: Manuscripts should typically range from 4,000 to 6,000 words.

Peer Review Process

UBAHSJ employs a double-blind peer review. Each article is screened by the editor and then evaluated by at least two expert referees in the relevant health discipline. Personal details are removed from manuscripts to ensure an unbiased technical review.

Criteria for Acceptance and Rejection

Approval requires: (1) Recommendation from at least two referees; (2) Incorporation of all revisions; (3) Compliance with ethical protocols (IRB approval); (4) Conformity to journal style; (5) Plagiarism score <10% and Grammarly Rating >95%; (6) Final endorsement from the Editorial Board.

Policy on Use of Human Subjects in Research

Research involving human subjects must confirm compliance with jurisdictional laws and the Declaration of Helsinki. Manuscripts must include Ethics Committee/Institutional Review Board (IRB) clearance as an attachment.

Open Access and Copyright Policy

UBAHSJ is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license. Users may share and adapt material for non-commercial purposes with proper attribution. Authors retain copyright but grant exclusive publishing rights to UBAHSJ.

Privacy Statement

Names and emails will be used exclusively for the journal's stated purposes and will not be shared with third parties.

Publication Frequency

UBAHSJ is an Annual publication, released every [Insert Month, e.g., November]. Special clinical issues may be released periodically.
